MOORE & TABER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
CONSULTING ENGINEERS AND GEOLOGISTS
-4-
The upper unit--extending to depth 31-,-6z ft below natural ground
surface (adjacent roadways)--is stiff dark gray brown sandy
clay and clayey silt with a highly organic clayey surface.
Lower-unit soils extended to maximum depth explored (+22 ft)
and consisted variably of light yellow brown semicompact-very
dense sandy silt/clayey sand and very stiff-hard sandy and
silty clay/clayey silt.
Upper-unit soils encountered at the three boring locations
are indicated to have "high expansion potential" per UBC 29-C
and, below surficially disrupted and highly organic soils, are
considered capable of generating support for structure loads
of moderate magnitude/intensity. Areas of shallow fill due
to previous land-levelling were not identified in the borings
but would be anticipated at some locations on the project.
Lower-unit materials are considered capable of contributing
to sustaining at least light-moderate intensity structure loads
of anticipated magnitude. No free groundwater was encountered;
no natural groundwater is anticipated within +20 ft , but "perched
water" at least seasonally would not be unexpected.
Discussion
The following comments are generalized (per above)
and assume final conditions at specific sites will be confirmed
as generally similar to these borings/conditions.
