WHAT IS A HAZARDOUS WASTE? <br /> Waste is considered a hazardous waste based on properties that make it <br /> potentially dangerous or harmful to human health or the environment. It can <br /> be a liquid,solid, contained gases, or discarded unused commercial product, <br /> or discarded used material. <br /> Waste is considered hazardous if it shows one or more of the following <br /> characteristics: <br /> • Ignitable: Easily catches on fire. Examples include: liquid disinfectant <br /> sprays, drain cleaners, pesticides,charcoal lighter fluid. <br /> • Corrosive: Causes deterioration,etching,or eating away of body <br /> tissue and other surfaces that it touches.
