Permitted Hazardous Waste Accumulation <br /> A central hazardous waste accumulation area is where hazardous wastes are <br /> accumulated prior to being picked up for disposal, treatment, or recycling. <br /> Requirements for these areas include: <br /> • The accumulation area must be locked or protected from unauthorized <br /> entry. A fence around the area is not required if it is in an area that is <br /> already restricted from unauthorized personnel. <br /> • Containers must be labeled with the appropriate hazardous waste label. <br /> • There must appropriate signage identifying the area as hazardous waste <br /> storage, and a "No Smoking' signage. <br /> • Weekly inspections must be conducted at these areas using the weekly <br /> inspection checklist. <br /> • There must be sufficient aisle space to allow unobstructed movement of <br /> personnel,fire protection equipment, spill control equipment, and <br /> decontamination equipment to any area of the operation. <br /> • The following equipment must be easily accessible, in working <br /> condition, and regularly tested: <br /> o Internal communications or alarm system capable of providing <br /> immediate emergency instruction to personnel. <br /> o Telephone or hand-held two-way radio capable of contacting local <br /> and emergency responders. <br /> CGA 12 MAY 2015 <br />
