covered at all times except to add or remove wastes and store liquid waste <br /> containers on secondary containment pallets. <br /> Tank Storage <br /> If hazardous waste is accumulated in aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), FACILITY <br /> NAME must ensure: <br /> ➢ Hazardous waste must not be stored in the tank for more than 90 (LQG) or <br /> 180 days (SQG). <br /> ➢ Tanks must be designed to hold hazardous waste and not collapse or leak. <br /> ➢ Closed tanks must be in good condition and compatible with the waste. <br /> ➢ Each AST in which hazardous waste is accumulated must be labeled with the <br /> following information: <br /> o The words"Hazardous Waste' <br /> o Accumulation start date <br /> o Composition and physical state of the waste (liquid, solid or gas) <br /> o Hazardous properties of the waste (e.g.,reactive or ignitable) <br /> o Name, address,and EPA identification number of the generator/facility <br /> o No smoking signs must be conspicuously displayed where ignitable or <br /> reactive wastes are stored in tanks <br /> ➢ Inspections: <br /> o LQGs: <br /> • Above ground portions of the tank system and construction materials <br /> of the tank and in the area immediately surrounding the tanks (e.g., <br /> dikes) must be checked at least daily to detect corrosion or leaking <br /> unless leak detection systems are installed. If such systems are <br /> installed, Construction materials of the tank and in the area <br /> immediately surrounding the tanks (e.g., dikes) must be checked at <br /> least weekly. <br /> ■ Data must be gathered from monitoring equipment at least once each <br /> operating day to ensure that the tank is being operated according the <br /> its design <br /> • Secondary containment systems must be inspected at least once each <br /> operating day <br /> o SQGs: <br /> 7of13 <br />
