All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #10 Disinfectant Residual MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: The chlorine was 0.6 ppm. Maintain free chlorine between 2-10 ppm. Corrected on site, it was 5.6 ppm. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Public pools, when open or in use, shall be disinfected continuously by approved chemicals and shall maintain the following concentrations: 1.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine without cyanuric acid, 2.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine with cyanuric acid or 2.0 ppm bromine. Spas, wading pools, and spray grounds shall maintain the following concentrations: 3.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine or 4.0 ppm bromine. (CCR 65529) #12 pH Level MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: The pH level was less than 7. Maintain pH between 7.2-7.8 when operating. Corrected on site, it was 7.2. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.8. (CCR 65530) #2 Pool Enclosure OBSERVATIONS: Observed some damage to south fence on the east end. Repair/replace fence within 1 week. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool area shall be enclosed by one or more of the following: a fence, portion of a building, wall, or other approved durable enclosure. Pool enclosure shall be constructed over a hard permanent material equivalent to concrete and shall be installed no more than 2 inches above the finished grade. Holes, gaps, or openings in the enclosure shall not allow the passage of a 4-inch diameter sphere. Doors, openable windows, or gates of living quarters shall not be permitted as part of the pool enclosure. (CBC 3119B) Pool operator shall keep the pool enclosure well maintained. (CCR 65535) Pool enclosure shall have a minimum effective perpendicular height of 5 feet and shall be constructed so that it cannot be climbed by small children. Horizontal members shall be spaced at least 48 inches apart. No planters or other climbable structures shall be permitted within 5 feet of the pool enclosure or within a 5-foot arc. Chain link openings shall not be larger than 1 3/4 inches when measured horizontally. Pool enclosures with a height of 4 or more feet are allowed if the enclosure was constructed prior to July 1994. (CBC 3119B) #9 Ladders and Handrails OBSERVATIONS: The shallow end hand rail was loose. Secure hand rail today. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: A means of entry and exit shall be provided at both the shallow and deep end of the pool. Ladders and handrails shall be corrosion resistant and shall be rigidly installed. At least one handrail shall extend from the deck to not less than a point above the top of the lowest step. Handrails shall be installed between 28 to 36 inches above the steps and deck.
