Overfill Protection Testing Testing Procedure
25
c. Print the Tank Inventory Report.
d. Test the relay assigned to the external Overfill alarm (if present) to insure the Overfill alarm works.
1. If the Overfill alarm does not sound, repair the device before continuing testing.
Testing
ATurn off power to the console.
BDisconnect the probe from the field wiring and remove it from the riser.
If you are testing more than one tank remove all the probes from their risers.
CLay the probe safely on the ground and reattach the field wiring.
DPosition the water float at the bottom of the probe and the product float 25% up from the bottom of the
probe.
EPower the console back on.
FSimulate a delivery as follows:
Move the float towards the top of the probe at a rate of 1-2” per ten seconds.
Continue moving the float to the top of the probe at a rate of 1-2” per ten seconds for the next 50
seconds, the probe is noW in delivery mode.
Slide the float at a moderate speed to the top of the probe. Note to not slam the float against the head
of the probe, this can damage the float.
GOnce the float reaches the overfill level the Overfill alarm, including external Overfill alarm (if present), will
sound.
HSilence the Overfill alarm on the TLS and external Overfill alarm (if present) by acknowledging it.
IMove the float down to the bottom of the probe. The TLS will clear the Overfill alarm once the delivery delay
time is complete.
JRepeat 3f - 3i for the other probes.
Test Completion
APrint out the delivery report for all tanks tested.
BPower off the console.
CReplace the probes back into the tank; before inserting into riser, ensure that the floats are positioned at the
bottom of the probe.
DPower on the console.
EIf the console is running BIR enter a manual adjustment for the amount of the delivery.
FIf the site is not running BIR give the delivery report to the store manager so they can log the delivery as
part of the overfill testing.
