In an <br /> attached narrative the report continues, "The fire was contained to a large <br /> pile of dry grass, trash, tree stumps old vehicle wheels and lumber' (see <br /> attachment C). <br /> III Statements: <br /> DATE:6-9-98 <br /> 1. On 6-9-98 at aproximately 4:57 PM Inspector Swartzendruber contacted <br /> Mr. Lane at his residence (23125 Henry Road, Escalon). <br /> 2. Mr. Lane stated that he owns the property where the burn occurred, and <br /> that on June 6, 1998 at about 7:00 a.m, two young men in a pickup truck <br /> came onto the property and ignited the piles of debris. Mr. Lane also <br /> stated that he was sleeping at the time and a young man driving by his <br /> residence (who he did not know) told him about the two men in the pickup <br /> truck. <br /> 3. Mr. Lane stated that he Intends to sell the property where the bum <br /> occurred and has been trying to clean it up. Mr. Lane further informed <br /> Inspector Swartzendruber that the grass growing to the south of his <br /> property was a safety hazard and he could not understand why the District <br /> prohibits the burning of grass in order to eliminate the hazard. <br /> 4. Inspector Swartzendruber informed Mr. Lane that as the owner of the <br /> property where the burn occurred, he was subject to violation of District <br /> Rule 4301, Open burning. At this point Mr. Lane became upset and stated <br /> that he had killed a guy 13 years ago and was currently on probation. He <br /> further stated that anything the District could do to him was nothing <br /> compared to what he had gone through in the past. Mr. Lane stated that <br /> he did not start the fire and he would "go before the judge". <br /> IV Conclusion: <br /> Mr. Bill Lane owner of the property at 23023 Santa Fe, Escalon, in San Joaquin <br /> County allowed conditions to exist which lead to the burning of 2-12rge pile of <br /> debris consisting of tree trimming, tree stumps, metal and plastic trash. This <br /> Burn started on June 6, 1998 and continued through June 23, 1998. <br />
