Santa Fe Road,Escalon.
This letter is to confirm that the waste tires located at the above listed address are
considered"altered tires". On August 12, 2005, a site visit was conducted to determine
the condition of the tires. These tires have been reduced by volume by being previously
crushed and deteriorated (due to being buried) or burned. Therefore, it is determined that
these waste tires meet the criteria to be considered as "altered tires".
The California Code of Regulations, Section 17355 states that waste tires may not be
disposed of at permitted solid waste facilities unless they are permanently reduced in
volume prior to disposal. Since these tires have been altered by burial and fire, they are
considered to be suitable for disposal into an appropriate solid waste disposal facility
without additional processing.
If you have any questions, please contact me at(209)468-0332.
Rebert McClellon, Supervising REHS
Environmental Health Department
Cc: Joe Griffith,Allied Waste.
r
