Most items in the attached checklist are in the "Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities" (Title 15, CCR) and the "California Uniform Retail Food Facilities Law" (CURFFL; Division 22, H & SC) . Where applicable, a code section reference follows each standard. There are TWO SEPARATE INSPECTION CHECKLISTS, one for Type I, I1, III and IV facilities and a second for court and temporary holding facilities. IT IS CRITICAL TO USE THE APPROPRIATE FORMAT FOR EACH FACILITY, AS NOT ALL REGULATIONS APPLY TO ALL FACILITIES. The checklist is divided into environmental, nutritional, and medical/mental health sections and all sections are required unless documented reasons are provided to indicate why an entire section is not applicable (e.g. , certain court and temporary holding facilities which never hold prisoners during mealtimes would not require the nutritional section) . Although its use is optional, Attachment 1 relates to CURFFL and may be useful in the environmental evaluation. Attachment 2 summarizes regulation applicability to each facility type. Individual standards found out of compliance or not applicable must be "checked" in the appropriate column and a brief explanation in the comments section is required.
