I was able to confirm the presence of a camp at the south end of the
bridge with structures being seen on both sides further down the wash. Another
camp was observed about a quarter mile south of the bridge on Lower
Sacramento.
12/03/2019 Encampment Response Team with Mike Suszycki. Wyatt and Roland of Public SANGALANG
Works, Dennis of Behavioral Health, Steve and Jose of Code Enforcement, and 3
Sheriff deputies on site.
12 people, 2 animals, 4 tents.
12/03/2019 Scott and I met with ERT at the site. Observed 4 tents/structures, 12 people, and 2 SUSZYCKI
dogs. Large amounts of trash, bulky items, human and animal waste, a fire pit,
and hazardous materials underneath and around the bridge. The river bed has
filled with water since my last visit and it appears that some of the tents/structures
were wash away. Only a fire pit was observed on the Sacramento side of the
bridge.
12/03/2019 Uploaded the pictures from my ERT visit and used them to create a photographic SUSZYCKI
log. Printed out 10 copies of the log.
Created an Encampment Response Inspection Report and printed 10 copies of it.
Turned the reports and photographic logs into Melissa for review.
01/02/2020 Constructed 72 hour postings and pamphlets. SUSZYCKI
01/03/2020 Went to the site with Mike from Public Works, the Sheriffs Department, and Ciera. SUSZYCKI
Posted the bridge with a 72 hour notice to vacate on both sides. Also posted
homeless assistance pamphlets. At the time of posting there were about 5
individuals at the site and one dog.
01/06/2020 Visited the site to observe the start of the clean up. The contractors brought two SUSZYCKI
bobcats and a large trailer to conduct the clean up. When we arrived there were
three people on site, two dogs, and two cats. An SJC deputy assisted with having
the camp occupants leave. They took about half an hour to collect up there stuff
and then they told Mike from Public Works that what was left was trash. I did not
observe any of concern after they left.
5105.rpt Page 1 of 2
