From: WESLEY DONOHO
To: Wona.Jeff rEHDI
Subject: Re: 29700 Ahern Engineered OWTS for Apna Petroleum SR0085076(PA-1600049)
Date: Wednesday,June 1,2022 11:33:00 AM
Attachments: 200924-Revised Daily Use(2).docx
NCS-6.pdf
NDA-ATX-1.)d
CAUTION:This email is originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless
you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.
Jeff:
I have attached the document I was given for the loading on this system. I was told this had been
approved so I didn't question it. I also checked on the usage of a truck stop in Bakerfield that had a
system designed for a similar load and they told me their average daily use was about 3,500 gallons and
they have Washers and Showers in their facility.
I have also attached the design manual from Orenco that I used to design the system from. It is where all
of the figures for my calculations came from. It is a pretty comprehensive document and covers many
scenarios. I designed the system to reduce the Nitrates to a point that with ground treatment in the
trenches I felt the effective Nitrate load would not be greater than 10 mg/L. I have resubmitted the
information to Orenco to see what their calculations will show. I will forward their response to you once I
receive it.
I have also attached a case study of a system using the AX-100 pod to achieve discharge limits. If you
have any more questions or comments, please let me know.
Thank you and have a great day,
Paul Donoho
On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, 04:54:30 PM PDT, Wong,Jeff[EHD] <jwong@sjgov.org>wrote:
Paul:
Per our phone conversation, please provide additional information for the 2/28/2022 engineered OWTS
stamped by Ross Shoaf(the Plan):
1) The numbers used to calculate the estimated maximum daily load, 6,450 gallons/day(and average of
3,225 gpd) , is different from the 7,095 gpd (derived from 845 gpd (employee) + 6,250 gpd (facility)) used
in the Nitrate Loading Calculation in the NLS/SSS dated 3/4/2020 (Project No.1947) prepared by Live
Oak Geo Environmental, Inc. The EHD 1/7/2021 Condition of Approval letter for the Use Permit
application PA-1600049, Item#4, requires the OWTS be based on the findings of the NLS/SSS. Please
provide information/sources in support of the different parameters being used to design the OWTS.
2) Many numbers used in the calculations on Page 5 of the Plan haves no legend or explaination.
