KLEINFELDER
I
consist of scrap*Ing the top soil layer in the middle tube to expose fresh
soil and scanning ,the Vapors emitted from the soil. The vapor reading will
be noted and evaluated at the completion of the field work portion of the
investigation to selec_ samples for chemical analyses.
For the protection of the field crew, the PID will also be used to measure
the fatal volatiles concentrations in the breathing zone prior to and
during the drilling of the soil borings. Total ionizable hydrocarbon
readings in excess of 5 ppm above baclaground in the breathing zone will
- necessitate respiratory protection measures. This requirement will be
outlined in a field safety plan for this project.
3 1:3:Soil:.Boring,",Grutrig
Each soil boring will be completely grouted from the bottcan to the ground
surface using a tremie pipe. The grout will consist of cement/bentonite
grout.
3.1.4 Soil Boring location and Elevation Survey
The ground surface. elevation will be surveyed to the nearest 0.01 foot at
each soil boring location. The elevations will be referw"Bd to a nearby
i
USGS bench mark with a mean sea level datum. The location for each soil
boring will be surveyed to the nearest 0.10 foot and refererK)ed to the
tank excavation and a nearby building.
29-88-03 10
