APPENDIX "B"
RESPONSE TO REPORT OF
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY
CONTROL BOARD - CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
DATED: April 29, 1982
On May 4, 1982, we received the subject report, which asks
for a response by May 20, 1982 . We shall make a preliminary
response to the Board of Supervisors for the public hearing
scheduled for May 6, 1982 .
The following comments represent preliminary responses to
the items listed under inspection summary. It appears there is
some misunderstanding by the author of the report regarding site
operation and construction procedures. Insofar as possible we
will try to clarify these, however, the document which was received
on May 3rd will require additional study and possibly more complete
discussion at a later date.
Item 1 "there was no analysis of drilling muds prior to
their disposal in the solar evaporation ponds"
RESPONSE
Our initial request for authorization to accept drilling
muds and brines was submitted to the Regional Water Quality Board
in January, 1980. This request for authorization contained in
its appendix typical chemical analysis of drilling mud wastes as
2138JS/28960-07212/kh/5-5-82/1
-1-
