Forward, Inc. Solar Evaporation Pond Hydrologic Balance
1980-1982 (continued)
From these calculations, it is evident that a surplus storage
capacity is available at the present time. All material
placed in solar evaporation Ponds 1-5 is accounted for in
the hydrologic waste balance calculations. There is no
unexplained or unaccountable losses that could indicate
any seepage has occurred at the Forward, Inc. , site.
Other Considerations
1. The ponds are lined with compacted clay soil to meet
State permeability requirements of 10-6 cm/sec or less,
of penetration of liquids.
2. The incoming volume of drilling water and mud
is probably 10% less than estimated because vacuum
tankers are typically not loaded to greater than 90%
of capacity. this factor (which was not used in these
calculations) would reduce the input volumes.
3. The approved site operations plan requires that pond
liners be replaced at two to three year intervals.
-5-
