Allen Morrison, the Assistant Editor of Civil <br /> Engineering has published an evaluation of six harzardous waste <br /> disposal options in the light of long term liabilities, threat to. <br /> groundwater quality and threat to surface water quality, using <br /> three ratings, namely "high" , "low" , or "medium" . <br /> Landfills were rated "high" in long term liabilities and <br /> . threat to groundwater . <br /> Surface impoundments (such as the ponds of Forward, Inc. ) <br /> were rated "high" in long term liabilities, threat to groundwater <br /> quality and threat to surface water quality. <br /> 2. The 1972 exploratory well logs and other available data <br /> suggest that the soil beneath the ponds will not hold back the <br /> leakage. Cross sections based on those logs will be presented. <br /> An example is attached to this sheet. <br /> 3. The importance and sensitivity of groundwater will be <br /> discussed. <br /> 4. A comparison will be made of the April 13, 1983 <br /> monitoring report and other monitoring reports, Waste Discharge <br /> Requirements and Monitoring and Reporting Program. <br /> 5.
