Table 1 shows the numbers of sapaples by type and location, Figure 1 shoes the sampling locations. Table 2 shows the analyses requestdo f AIHL. hour Twenty-four^"hi-vol" samples were collected on August 21 3, and 4 at both site 2 and the recycle center (the control sample) . Ambient air samples of 2 to 2 1/2 hours duration were collected on carbon each morning at sites 1 (upwind) 2 , 3, and 4. Similar samples were collected on XAD-II adsorbent each afternoon (except August 1) at the same sites.* Four pairs of "CSI" samples were collected on Tenax and XAD-II on the filled Class II-1 trenches 1, 2 , and 3 . (trench 4 has never received waste.) A water sample for headspace analysis was collected from ponds 1, 21 3, and 5. (Pond 4 is dry) . AIHL has a large backlog of work. Therefore, several weeks probably will elapse before these samples are analyzed. The wand was quite consistent during all four days, averaging slightly north of due west. That was less northerly than anticipated, but not sufficiently so to invalidate the upwind/downwind nature of the sampling locations.` During the sampling, there was no activity at the trenches and the ponds. Several trucks dumped at the Class II disposal area each day. The San Joaquin County APCD was not present. *The XAD-II samples at sites 3 and 4 were lost on August 2
