Hinson
Subject: Addendum to Plan for
Sub-surface Investigation
318 West Main Street
Ripon, California
Dear Ms. Hinson:
Please find presented below further information on our planned
investigation for the subject site. This information addresses
the items called out in your letter to Ms. May Gong dated August 24,
1988.
1. Drilling and Soil Sampling
Sub-surface conditions will be explored by drilling five or six
8-inch diameter borings to a depth of approximately 20 feet with a
hollow stem auger drill rig. Soil samples will be collected at
selected depths. The auger flights will have an outside diameter of
8 inches and be 5 feet long. The augers and other drilling equipment
will be steam cleaned prior to drilling.
A retractable plug will be installed into the hollow-stem flight auger
to prevent soil from entering the auger flights during drilling. The
plug will be aff ixed to the lower end of a rod that fits within the
hollow auger flights. When a target depth is reached the plug will be
replaced by a Modified California Drive sampler which will be lowered
to the bottom of the boring. The sampler will then be driven into the
soil for a distance of approximately 18 inches. The Modified California
Sampler has an outside diameter of approximately three inches and an
inside diameter of 2.375 inches. The sampler will be driven by re-
peatedly raising a 140 pound hammer to a height of 30 inches and drop--
ping it on the upper end of the rod until the sampler has advanced 18
inches.
PAYMENT
RECEIVED
AUG 3 ti 1888
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMITISEWICES
MEMBER OF THE SGS GROUP(SOCIETE GENERALE DE SURVEILLANCE)
