(P&D) has prepared this Soil Boring Work Plan to characterize soil for worker safety considerations in preparation for future excavation for installation of a sump to capture garbage in the storm drain before the garbage can be discharged to the nearby river. This work is being done in accordance with a request from The City of Lodi. An aerial photograph showing the location of the vacant field and the proposed soil boring locations is attached with this work plan as Figure 1. All work will be performed under the supervision of a California Professional Geologist. BACKGROUND The site is a vacant field that is owned by the City of Lodi. The house address adjacent to the field is 1115 Awani Drive, Lodi, CA 95240. The coordinates for the proposed drilling location are 38.14829755008108, -121.27002624634683. It is our understanding that the site was historically operated by The City of Lodi as a landfill for construction materials and that the landfill was closed in the 1980s. The City of Lodi is required to prevent garbage in the storm drain from getting into the nearby Mokelumne River. As a preventative measure, The City of Lodi is preparing to excavate an area approximately 15 feet long by 15 feet wide to a depth of approximately 18 feet below the ground surface (bgs) to install a garbage collection basin/sump in the storm drain. The proposed borings will be drilled to characterize the soil in the area of excavation for preparation of a health and safety plan by a Certified Industrial Hygienist for worker safety purposes.
