hydraulic control of shallow groundwater and to remove nitrate and volatile organic compounds from soil
and groundwater. Three of the Oxychem monitoring wells are screened at a deeper interval (ranging from
60 to 90 feet below ground surface); the locations of these three deeper zoned Oxychem wells are shown
on Figure 4(Appendix A).
4.2 WELLS WITHIN 500 FEET OF THE SITE
Based on Condor's review of DWR's well records and communications with property owners, the City of
Stockton Municipal Utilities Department, and California Water Service staff, no wells are located within
500 feet of the site. The closest well is an industrial well used for fire suppression purposes located
approximately 1,250 feet northeast of the site.
4.3 OTHER POTENTIAL RECEPTORS
Condor reviewed aerial, topographic, and city street maps, California's GeoTracker and Department of
Toxic Substances Control's (DTSC's) EnviroStor online geographic information system (GIS) databases,
and other available public directory databases to identify other potential receptors such as schools, childcare
facilities, health care facilities, parks, and other pertinent sites located within the 1,000-foot study area. Two
locations were identified in the locations shown on Figure 4(Appendix A).Additional receptor information
is provided in the following sections.
4.3.1 Schools and Childcare Facilities
No schools or childcare facilities were identified within 1,000 feet of the site.
4.3.2 Surface Water Bodies
Three stormwater basins are located in the study area. One stormwater basin is located at the southeast
corner of the former Helena Chemical Facility Site parcel, one is located approximately 575 feet north-
northwest on industrial property, and one is located approximately 675 feet north-northeast of the Site on
industrial property. The nearest surface water body that is also a sensitive receptor is the San Joaquin River,
located 2,500 feet west of the Site. The locations of the three stormwater basins are shown on Figure 4
(Appendix A).
4.3.3 Healthcare Facilities
There are no healthcare facilities located within 1,000 feet of the site.
4.3.4 Parks
No parks are located within 1,000 feet of the site.
4.4 PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY
California Water Service(Cal Water)provides water to the study area and owns the large water tank located
approximately 700 feet east-southeast of the Site. Condor contacted Cal Water to identify any of their wells
within the 1,000-foot search radius. Craig Stevens, California Water Service Superintendent 11, indicated
that Cal Water does not have any wells within 1,000 feet of the Site. The pump station located next to the
water tank is a booster pump station tied to the distribution system and not the location of a well site.
Condor also contacted the City of Stockton to identify whether any City wells were located within the
1,000-foot study area. Eric Houston, Chief Plant Operator for the City of Stockton Municipal Utilities
Department, indicated that the City of Stockton does not have any wells within 1,000 feet of the Site.
