aecom.com
Our Reference 60632236
7/10
3.Rinse using deionized/distilled water.
Because sampling activities will be completed in relatively shallow soil, decontamination fluids will be
poured onto the ground surface at the Site. If grossly contaminated material is contacted, the fluids will be
containerized and profiled for subsequent transport off-site to an appropriate disposal facility.
Disposable equipment intended for one-time use will not be decontaminated. Instead, this equipment will
be packaged for appropriate disposal.
Quality Assurance Sampling
Two duplicate soil samples, one trip blank, and one matrix spike/spike duplicate recoveries will be
collected and submitted for analysis for quality control purposes.
Additionally, one duplicate soil vapor sample and one TO-17 field blank soil vapor sample will be collected
and submitted for analysis.
No equipment blank samples will be collected due to the difficulty in correlating water results to TPH and
VOC soil sample results.
Backfilling Procedure
After soil vapor well samples have been collected, and before completion of the boring by direct-push
auger, all well construction material will be removed from the boring using a hand-auger.
At the conclusion of sampling activities, each boring will be backfilled with neat cement grout, (i.e.,
Portland Cement-Type I/II), in accordance with San Joaquin County requirements (SJCEHD 2005).
Investigation-Derived Waste
Investigation-derived waste (IDW) soil will be generated during sampling activities. The soil will be placed
in Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums. The IDW will be covered and
temporarily stored at the Site pending sampling and analysis for waste profiling purposes. It is anticipated
that the soil will be classified as non-hazardous.
One representative IDW soil sample will be collected and placed in an insulated cooler with ice for
transport under chain-of-custody to Eurofins TestAmerica laboratory for waste profiling purposes. The
sample will be analyzed for TPH-g and VOCs by EPA Method SW8260B, TPH-d and TPH as motor oil by
EPA Modified SW8015B and (3) California Title 22 Metals by EPA Method SW6010B. The sample will be
analyzed on a standard 10-day-turnaround time.
Following receipt of the laboratory analytical results, the IDW will be transported offsite by Belshire
Environmental Services for disposal to the Recology Hay Road Landfill in Vacaville, California. Newark will
be listed as the generator on the disposal manifests, and the bill of lading and the disposal manifest will be
signed by a Site representative.
Schedule and Reporting
Implementation of this work plan will be completed to meet the RWQCB reporting requirements, which are
yet to be established; however, the following approximate schedule is anticipated.
AECOM will commence field activities within 45 days following RWQCB approval of the final work plan
(subject to subcontractor availability). Utility-locating field activities are expected to take 1 full day.
Soil sampling between 0 and 5 feet bgs and installation of the temporary soil vapor wells are expected to
occur a minimum of 4 days after utility-locating field activities and are expected to take 1 full day.
