STATE OF CALIFORNIA GEORGE DEUKWUlAN, Governor
CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
1020 NIN*11 I STREET, SUNT. 300
SACRAMENTO, CA11FORNIA 95814
z
Mr. Lawrence A. Cogan
Ware & Freidenrich
400 Hamilton Avenue
Palo Alto, California 94301-1808
Subject: Forward, Inc. Landfill, Facility No. 39 -AA -0015
Dear Mr. Cogan:
We have received your letter dated January 12, 1990, regarding
the maximum amount of waste the Forward, Inc. Landfill can
receive each day. In the letter you concluded that the Solid
Waste Facilities Permit (SWFP) allows receipt of 500 tons of
waste per day. The conclusion is based on a document referenced
in the 1978 Report of Disposal Site Information (RDSI). The
referenced document and other relevant information have been
reviewed by Board staff and it has been determined that the
maximum amount of waste the landfill can receive under the
provisions of it's current SWFP is 700 cubic yards of waste per
day. Receipt of greater than this amount will require a permit
revision.
Our determination has been made using the language expressly
stated in the SWFP and RDSI. The SWFP states:
This site is closed to the public, but receives an annual
average of 700 cubic yards of non -recyclable waste per day.
Each day, the collection companies deliver an average of
1000 cubic yards of solid waste for recovery to the Resource
recovery center (assumes loose weight of 5UO lbs/cu. yd.).
*f this total, approximately 700 cubic yards (loose) are
transferred to the landfill for disposal as unrecoverable
solid waste
MW
Site life estimates based upon current waste loads on the
Austin Road landfill are meaningless as daily waste volumes
are expected to increase substantially in the future.
