8.0 IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
The following sources of past, current, on-site, and off-site contamination have
been identified as a result of this investigation:
1
K
3
112
Identified Contamination Source Evaluation
The Site has been used for
agriculture since 1937 or earlier,
and as an almond orchard since
2014. A variety of agricultural
chemicals have been applied to the
Site during the past five years,
according to the San Joaquin
County Agricultural
Commissioner's office. (Current
and past on-site)
The houses on the Site appear to
date to 1963 and pre -1937, based
on aerial photos reviewed. Three
additional structures were present
on the Site from 1937 through the
1970s. (Current and past on-site)
A domestic well and two septic
systems are located on the Site.
Based on permit records, it is
possible that an older domestic well
was once located on the Site;
alternatively, the original well may
have been deepened in the late
1990s. (Current and past on-site)
Three 550 -gallon above -ground
diesel tanks are located on the
Site. A mobile fuel tank was
observed nearby. (Current on-site)
As with any agricultural property,
agricultural chemical residues may
be present in Site soils from
previous applications. The typical
standard of care for SSCRs does
not require further investigation of
agricultural use.
For any former structure dating from
the 1980s or earlier, the assumption
is made that lead -containing
materials and/or pesticide residues
may be present in the vicinity of the
structure. It is also possible that
underground infrastructure may
remain in the area. The typical
standard of care for SSCRs does
not require any further investigation
of current or former structures.
The domestic well and two septic
systems are currently in use. The
current owners have no knowledge
of the age or history of the domestic
well.
The stationary tanks are within
secondary containment, and no
staining was observed. The San
Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department provides
regulatory oversight for fuel tanks.
LOGE 2214 9
