CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In summary, the soil conditions examined near the existing and potential future septic
disposal fields on the Site were found to be suitable for standard septic systems.
Satisfactory soil percolation rates were observed at the test location on each proposed
parcel. The soils in the test locations were found to be sand/silt mixtures.
The depth of ground water based on recent aquifer levels is approximately 30 feet
below ground surface. Ground water appears to flow to the north in the general area at
a rate of 2.0 to 2.5 feet per mile.
A water sample was collected from the domestic well at 22884 Frederick Avenue as
part of this investigation. Nitrate was detected in the sample at a concentration of 5.5
mg/L-N, well below the MCL of 10 mg/L-N. DBCP was detected in the sample at a
concentration of 0.053 l g/L, below the MCL of 0.2 tg/L but above the MCLG of zero.
Based on the methods and assumptions described, the nitrate loading calculation
indicates that the use of existing and potential future septic tanks and drain field
systems on the Site should not cause a buildup of nitrate in the aquifer over the
maximum drinking water standard of 10 mg/L-N. Because of the results of the nitrate
loading analysis, no nitrate mitigations are recommended at this time. There are no
immediate plans for construction.
The findings for each parcel are summarized in the following table.
LOGE 2233 Page 18
Perc.
Nitrate
Rate
Loading Result
Parcel
(min/in)
(mg/L-N)
Comments & Recommendations
Parcel 1
6.25
4.2
No new construction anticipated.
Parcel
31.25
3.3
Standard septic system recommended; no restrictions
identified.
Shallow septic system (leach lines or filter bed) only; a
Parcel 3
1.46
9.2
house 4 bedrooms or smaller results in predicted nitrate
loading under MCL.
Designated
N/A
0.8
No new construction anticipated.
Remainder
LOGE 2233 Page 18
