This Limited
Phase II ESA is being performed to develop disposal profiles for soil and groundwater, if
encountered, that will be excavated or require dewatering, during construction activities
associated with expansion of Costco’s existing gas station.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Site consists of approximately 16.37 acres of land. According to the San Joaquin County
Assessor’s Office, the proposed gasoline station upgrade is located on a single parcel with
Assessor Parcel Number (APN) of 238-600-060-000. The site is currently an operating Costco
Wholesale Warehouse and associated gasoline station.

Kleinfelder understands Costco plans to expand and upgrade its fuel facility. It is understood that
the upgrade and expansion activities are to include adding six new fuel dispenser islands and
extending the station’s canopy with excavations down to 10 feet below ground surface (bgs); and
installing a new 40,000-gallon fuel underground storage tank (UST) to a depth up to 20 feet bgs.
The purposes of Kleinfelder’s proposed services are to provide Costco with soil and groundwater
(if encountered during Kleinfelder’s investigation) environmental characterization data for use in
facilitating disposal of soil that will be excavated and groundwater requiring dewatering during the
upgrade’s construction activities. Additionally, Kleinfelder will collect soil samples from beneath
the proposed UST locations to document baseline conditions
