MPCOSTCO.001C/LGH21L134434 Page 4 of 5 December 17, 2021
© 2021 Kleinfelder www.kleinfelder.com
KLEINFELDER 24411 Ridge Route Dr., Suite 225, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 p | 949.727.4466 f | 949.727.9242
The selected soil samples for laboratory analysis will be analyzed by a laboratory which is
accredited by California’s Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP). The selected
soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons with carbon chain identification
(TPH-CCID) using US EPA Method 8015B, VOCs including fuel oxygenates using US EPA
Methods 5035A/8260B, and the 17 California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22 Metals using
US EPA Methods 7471A (for mercury) and 6010B (for the other metals). In addition, it is assumed
that four of the nine soil samples will require analyses for both Soluble Threshold Limit
Concentration (STLC) and Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) for two metals.

The groundwater samples would be analyzed for the same analyses as the soil samples. The
groundwater samples will be analyzed for both total metals (non-filtered) and dissolved metals
(filtered by the laboratory).

Sampling equipment will be cleaned before each use to preserve the quality of the samples
collected. Investigation-derived waste (IDW) will be temporarily stored on Site in Department of
Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums pending the receipt and review of the laboratory
analytical results. After receipt of the analytical results and completion of waste profiling, a
subcontracted licensed waste hauler will remove the IDW and transport it off Site for disposal at
an appropriate licensed facility.

Task 4 – Pre-Profile Reporting

Following receipt of the analytical results, Kleinfelder will prepare a letter report that discusses
the sampling activities, analytical results, and findings of the limited assessment. The letter report
will be submitted to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department within 60 days after
the completion of field activities and receipt of laboratory results.

LIMITATIONS

Kleinfelder’s work will be performed in a manner consistent with that level of care and skill
ordinarily exercised by other members of the profession practicing in the same locality, under
similar conditions and at the date the services are provided. Kleinfelder’s conclusions, opinions,
and recommendations will be based on a limited number of observations and data. It is possible
that conditions could vary between or beyond the data evaluated. Kleinfelder makes no guarantee
or warranty, express or implied, regarding the services, communication (oral or written), report,
opinion, or instrument of service provided.

This document was prepared specifically for Costco and SJCEHD may not be provided to others
without Kleinfelder’s express permission.

Regulations and professional standards applicable to Kleinfelder's engineering services are
continually evolving. Techniques are, by necessity, often new and relatively untried. Different
professionals may reasonably adopt different approaches to similar problems. As such,
Kleinfelder’s services are intended to provide the Client with a source of professional advice and
recommendations based on a limited number of field observations and tests, collected and
performed in accordance with the generally-accepted engineering practice that exists at the time
Kleinfelder’s services are rendered, and may depend on, and be qualified by, information
gathered previously by others and provided to Kleinfelder by the Client and others.
