IJ
i. / \ V --
Soil Borings -Soil Vapor Sampling
Was is also proposing to advance two borings at the property using a Geoprobe° drilling rig, complete
each boring as a soil vapor sampling probe, sample each probe once, and remove them under permit to
evaluate the current site conditions.
Two shallow soil borings will be advanced to depths of 5 feet below ground surface (bgs) to facilitate the
collection of soil vapor samples in the vicinity of the former automobile repair garage(s). Continuous soil
quality field screening will be performed at all boring locations. Visual and olfactory methods of screening
will be used during the field efforts to identify evidence of contamination.
Each soil boring will be completed as a temporary soil vapor sampling probe, using %" or%$" tubing and a
filter point. At least two hours after installation, each point will be purged and sampled according to
current California Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC) soil vapor sampling guidelines using
laboratory -supplied manifolds and stainless steel Summa canisters.
Upon completion of sampling, each probe will be removed and the borings will be filled to near grade
with neat cement grout under the supervision of a representative from SJCEHD. The borings will be
patched with the appropriate materials to match the surface (including asphalt or concrete patch where
needed).
Each vapor sample will be analyzed for volatile organic carbons (including benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, xylenes, naphthalene, percent oxygen and leak detection compound) via EPA Method TO -
15.
REPORTING
Following the completion of the field activities, Atlas will submit a summary report. The report will include
bUIing logs; tabulated groundwater and vapor analytical results; chain -of -custody documentation, and
conclusions and recommendations for future work, if needed.
SCHEDULE
Encroachment and boring permits will be obtained prior to the commencement of drilling activities.
Upon approval of this work plan, Atlas will promptly submit permit requests to the City of Stockton and
the SJCEHD and begin to implement the scope of work. A report summarizing the work will be submitted
approximately four weeks following receipt of the analytical results.
61 Page
