These chemical guides are published in <br />the NIOSH Guide to Chemical Hazards. <br />3.7.1 Petroleum Hydrocarbons <br />Types/Source: Fuel and lubricants <br /> <br />• TPH: Total petroleum hydrocarbons and <br />• BTEX: Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, ethanol and other aromatic hydrocarbons <br /> <br />Exposure Route: See Attachment A – NIOSH Guides Petroleum Hydrocarbons <br />Exposure signs/symptoms: ref. Attachment A <br />Qualified Exposure Risk: Low; hydrocarbon impacted soil <br />Hazard Control(s): <br /> <br />• Isolation – site control. <br />• Engineering Controls – work practices and safe sampling procedures: avoid contact with <br />potentially contaminated water; follow sanitation and personal hygiene procedures outlined in <br />Section 4.2.
