• Head protection (construction areas, designated "Hard Hat Areas", and whenever work activity <br /> creates an overhead hazard)-ANSI Z89.1-1986. <br /> • Foot protection -ASTM F2412-05. <br /> • Traffic vest in high traffic areas and around heavy equipment. <br /> • Hand protection appropriate for the task. <br /> 7.2.1 Eye Protection <br /> All personnel engaged in or working in areas adjacent to eye-hazardous activities or operations shall <br /> wear appropriate eye protection. <br /> • Safety glasses are required for impact protection and shall meet ANSI Z87.1-1989 requirements. <br /> • Chemical goggles are required for protection against chemical splash. <br /> — A face shield is required for face protection from chemical splash and is not a <br /> substitute for eye protection. <br /> • Full-face respirators can provide eye and face protection in lieu of safety glasses, goggles, or face <br /> shields. <br /> 7.2.2 Foot Protection <br /> Steel-toed safety boots/shoes are required for all landfill and construction job sites and shall meet the <br /> requirements of ASTM F2412-05. Specialized footwear shall be provided as required by the nature of <br /> the work. Personnel working within shallow water bodies shall wear waders for exposure protection in <br /> lieu of steel-toed safety boots. <br /> 7.2.3 Head Protection <br /> Hard hats meeting ANSI Z89.1-1986 shall be provided to protect workers from impact, penetration, <br /> falling objects, and/or limited electrical shock and burn, as appropriate,for work site hazards. Hard hats <br /> must be worn in all construction areas, designated "Hard Hat Areas", and whenever work activity <br /> creates an overhead hazard. <br /> 7.2.4 Respiratory Protection <br /> Air purifying respiratory protection may be used for protection against dust and organic vapors during <br /> the course of the project. The need for respiratory protection will be determined by air monitoring <br /> results and site conditions.
