Injuries and illnesses that do <br /> not require immediate medical care shall be treated at the selected medical care facilities.The EMS shall <br /> be summoned in the event of moderate to severe physical injury, which requires immediate emergency <br /> care (See Figure 2, "Hospital Route Map"). In all cases, the SHSO/PM, or approved designee, shall <br /> accompany the injured worker to the appropriate medical care facility. Figure 3 contains a map from the <br /> site to the Core Health Services medical clinic, if it is necessary to assist in transporting personnel with <br /> minor injuries or illnesses. <br /> The route to the hospital and the selected urgent care facility shall be posted in every company vehicle. <br /> 10.4 Personal Exposure or Injury <br /> The following procedures will be implemented in the event of a personal injury (other than first aid <br /> only). <br /> 10.4.1 Serious Exposures or Injuries Requiring Transport by Ambulance <br /> The SHSO/PM (or designee) will provide support to emergency responders and dedicate appropriate <br /> project resources to the response effort. <br /> Upon the realization that an individual(s) needs medical care with transport by ambulance,the following <br /> procedure will be used when applicable: <br /> • Administer first aid and contact the SHSO to arrange for dispatch of the EMS. <br /> • When the situation has been stabilized, decontaminate the injured person (if necessary; however, <br /> there are probably no situations at the site where it would be critical to decontaminate personnel <br /> prior to the administration of medical treatment). Do not perform decontamination if it interferes <br /> with emergency treatment, such as in a life-threatening situation. <br /> • Notify the HSM. <br /> 10-3 <br />
