The report uses Shapiro-Wilk's Test with a 5% significance level to establish tolerance limits for
arsenic and hexavalent chromium. The evaluation indicates that the concentrations of arsenic and
hexavalent chromium in background and compliance wells are not the result of a release from Forward
Landfill.
Apparently elevated concentrations of arsenic and hexavalent chromium are part of background
conditions at the Forward site. Given the toxic nature of arsenic and hexavalent chromium board staff
requests that Forward Inc. continue to monitor arsenic and hexavalent chromium on a quarterly basis.
Arsenic and hexavalent chromium will be added to the monitoring parameters for detection monitoring
when at the next revision of the WDRs, expected in Fall 2001.
If you have any questions, please call me at(916) 255-3814.
ROSS D.
