PES Environmental, Inc. <br /> 3.0 HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The potential hazards to personnel working at the site have been identified as chemical <br /> exposure, and the physical hazards of working with excavating equipment. Each potential <br /> hazard relative to the potential for exposure is described below. <br /> 3.1 Chemical Hazards <br /> Based on available historical information, the following group of chemicals may be anticipated <br /> in soil where work activities are planned: gasoline, motor oil, and benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX). Diesel exhaust is included as well due to vacuum truck <br /> operation. Pertinent properties of these substances are included in the following National <br /> Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards <br /> summaries available at: http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npg/. <br /> 148400101H002.doc 3 <br />
