Groundwater Well Installation Work Plan Sharpe Army Depot
Lathrop, California
Ahtna Environmental, Inc. Page 4 of 6
Reviewer Nadia Hollan Burke Organization Environmental Protection Agency Date July 14, 2020
Item Reference Review Comment Response
8. Section 3.2.5,
Conveyance
Piping Installation
and Electrical
Hook-up, Page 12,
and Section 3.3,
Waste
Management,
Page 14
Section 3.3 discusses soil generated during trenching,
but the text does not discuss trenching, and it is
assumed that this is necessary to install the
conveyance piping and electrical lines discussed in
Section 3.2.5. Please revise Section 3.2.5 to discuss
trenching activities.
Revised. Trenching activities were added to Section
3.2.5.
9. Section 3.2.7,
Sampling, Page 13
Section 3.2.7 states that the newly installed wells will
be sampled no sooner than two days after well
development, but sampling should occur at least
seven to 14 days after well development to ensure the
well equilibrates with the aquifer. Please revise
Section 3.2.7 to state that newly installed wells will be
sampled no sooner than seven to 14 days after well
development.
Clarification. As bailing and swabbing, followed by
pumping, will be used to develop the wells (Section
3.2.2), no undue forces will be applied to the formation
and sampling a minimum of two days after
development will be sufficient to allow the groundwater
to re-equilibrate. No revisions have been made to the
text.
10. Table 1,
Specifications for
Proposed
Groundwater
Extraction Well,
and Figure 14,
Groundwater
Monitoring Well
Construction
Diagram:
Table 1 states that a 10-foot length screen will be
used, but Figure 14 indicates that a 10 to 15-foot
length screen will be used. Please resolve this
discrepancy.
Revised. Figure 14 was updated to indicate a 10-foot
length of screen will be installed.
