January 6, 2020
Page 4

These particle tracking and capture simulations demonstrate the usefulness of a new
extraction well in C Zone for improving capture efficiency of contaminated groundwater in
the SHAD-007 & -008 areas, particularly for TCE identified offsite in the C Zone. Both
alternative locations presented in this memorandum are shown to capture TCE in this area,
but Alternative 2 may provide a more comprehensive capture zone for offsite TCE. This
improved capture would likely be associated with improved contaminant mass removal
and associated improvements in cleanup time. The results of this capture zone analysis are
subject to the same assumptions and limitations documented in the model update
appendix presented in the FFA Annual Progress Report.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Sean Culkin, PG, CHG
Project Manager
