SOP-009 Standard Operating Procedure Low-Flow Groundwater Quality and Sample Collection <br />Page 1 of 9 Revision No. 1 April 2019 <br /> <br />Sharpe Army Depot <br />1.0 Purpose <br />The purpose of this standard operating procedure (SOP) is to the provide procedures for calibrating and operating the field equipment necessary for collecting groundwater stabilization parameters and samples by low flow. Groundwater stabilization parameters are obtained by using electronic equipment and are required to meet calibration standards. <br />2.0 Scope <br />This SOP applies to all personnel who collect groundwater stabilization parameters and/or samples by low flow. <br />3.0 Equipment List <br />• Decontamination equipment including soap, de-ionized and tap water <br />• Health and safety equipment including safety glasses and nitrile/latex exam gloves <br />• Field logbook, indelible ink pens and field forms <br />• Tools to open wells <br />• Water quality multi-meter equipped with flow-through cell <br />• Electronic water level meter such as the Solinst Model 101 or equivalent <br />• Turbidity Meter such as HACH or equivalent <br />• Rinse water receptacle and disposal area <br />• Multi-calibration solution or equivalent <br />• ORP standard powder No. 160-22 or No. 160-51 or equivalent. <br />• Flow-through-cell/chamber <br />• Dedicated or non-dedicated low flow 12 volt Geosquirt pump or equivalent <br />• Vehicle battery to power pump with pump controller <br />• Sample tubing (dedicated) 3/8” or ½” ID Polyethylene <br />• Graduated cylinder <br />• Timing device <br />• Sample bottles <br />• Chain of custody form
