The containers <br /> were: <br /> 1. One 55-gallon container only labeled"flammable", "toxics", "accumulation start date 8-29-22." <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: the <br /> words"Hazardous Waste", name and address of generator, hazardous properties, physical state, composition <br /> (contents), accumulation start date <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately label the containers as required for hazardous waste. Provide a corrective <br /> action statement and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (EHD)within 30 days. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br /> 710 HSC 25201.16(h)(4)No written operating procedure for hazardous waste aerosol can processing. <br /> OBSERVATION: Copies of universal waste (UW)disposal/recycling records for spent forklift batteries were not <br /> found on site. According to maintenance staff, a company removes used forklift batteries from this facility. Amazon <br /> is a co-generator of the spent forklift batteries. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: <br /> (4) The handler ensures that the processing operations are performed safely by developing and implementing a <br /> written operating procedure detailing the safe processing of universal waste aerosol cans. This procedure shall, at a <br /> minimum, include all of the following: <br /> (A) The type of equipment to be used to process the universal waste aerosol cans safely. <br /> (B) Operation and maintenance of the unit. <br /> (C) Segregation of incompatible wastes. <br /> (D) Proper waste management practices, including ensuring that flammable wastes are stored away from heat and <br /> open flames. <br /> (E) Waste characterization. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately locate a copy of the disposal or recycling records for the spent forklift <br /> batteries for the last three years and maintain them on site. Provide a corrective action statement and a copy of the <br /> last three years of the records to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)within 30 days. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> Overall Inspection Comments: <br /> An inspection checklist was provided to the facility operator on the day of inspection.
