Sampling and Analysis Plan for
Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
South Pointe Property: 701, 705, 833, 855 West Weber Avenue
Stockton, California
Quality Controls
May 17, 2021
10.0 QUALITY CONTROLS
A general summary of field QC sampling procedures for field blanks, trip blanks, temperature blanks, field
duplicates, and matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate (MS/MSD)samples are described in the project
QAPP. Specific field-related QC samples for this project are summarized in Table 5-1 b.
10.1 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL SAMPLES
10.1.1 Assessment of Field Contamination (Blanks)
Equipment and field blanks are discussed below.
10.1.1.1 Equipment Blanks
One equipment rinsate blank will be collected and submitted for analysis for each day of field work.
Equipment rinsate blanks will be collected to evaluate field sampling and decontamination procedures by
pouring High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) organic-free water over the decontaminated
sampling equipment. Rinsate blanks will be collected into laboratory-supplied glassware and analyzed for
OCPs by EPA Method 8081. Equipment blanks are not applicable to passive and active soil vapor
sampling.
The equipment rinsate blanks will be preserved, packaged, and sealed in the manner described for the
environmental samples. A separate sample number and station number will be assigned to each sample,
and it will be submitted blind to the laboratory.
10.1.1.2 Field Blanks
Because reusable, non-decontaminated equipment will not be used for passive and active soil vapor
sampling, collection of field blanks is not proposed.
10.1.1.3 Trip Blanks
Trip blanks will be prepared to evaluate if the shipping and handling procedures are introducing
contaminants into the samples, and if cross contamination in the form of VOC migration has occurred
between the collected samples. The sealed trip blanks are not opened in the field and are shipped to the
laboratory in the same container with the samples collected for volatile analyses. Trip blanks will be
submitted with each shipment of passive soil vapor sample modules. The trip blanks will be preserved,
packaged, and sealed in the manner described for the environmental samples. A separate sample
number and station number will be assigned to each trip sample and it will be submitted blind to the
laboratory. Trip blanks are not applicable for active soil vapor samples collected into Summa canisters, as
M
Project No.: 185704833.5.3&5.4 10.1
