PROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR <br />INFECTIOUS WASTE COLLECTION <br />POLICY & PROCEDURE <br />POLICY: Janitor will wear protective clothing for the collection of infectious <br />waste. <br />PURPOSE: To protect the employee <br />from possible <br />contamination. <br />PROCEDURE: <br />POINTS <br />OF EMPHASIS: <br />1. Put on isolation gown. <br />1. <br />Gown will be tied at the neck and' <br />secured at the waist. <br />2. Put on disposable gloves. <br />2. <br />Pull gloves over gown cuff. <br />Following the infections waste collection, <br />the janitor will remove and dispose <br />of protective clothing. <br />1. Removal of protective <br />1. <br />This area has been set up for this <br />clothing will take place in <br />procedure. <br />the washroom. <br />2. Remove gown. <br />2. <br />Unfasten at neck and waist. Remove the <br />sleeves carefully and begin folding the <br />gown inside out. <br />3. Place gown in infedtious <br />waste hamper. <br />4. Remove gloves <br />5. Place gloves in infectious <br />waste hamper. <br />6. Wash hands thoroughly. <br />1 <br />7. Dry hands. <br />8. Relock all supplies for <br />infectious waste collection <br />KM <br />4. Turn gloves inside out as you remove them. <br />-1 <br />6. Use Sana Scrub. <br />7. Use paper towels to dry hands and also <br />to close faucet. <br />8. Red bags - small and large Autoclave bags <br />Germicidal solution. <br />Attactrerit #5a <br />
