Modical waste handling procedures.
11 . Tracy Hospital has located a San -I -Pak Unit in the
service area, located near the service entrance of
Bessie Avenue. The waste is segregated for pick
up by using the universal color code system of
bagging waste. Separate rounds and separate carts
are used to funnel waste into the proper waste
disposal cycle. All medical waste is doubled
bagged in red disposable bags, each bag is labeled
to indicate infectious waste (English and
Spanish), and transported at the appropriate pick
up cycle. Medical waste is processed at the time
of collection. Should an unusual amount of
_ medical waste require multiple process cycles, a
lockable container is available for storage~ The
stored waste would then be processed at the
conclusion of the previous cycle.
