Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
RE: Medical Waste Management Plan
Rasey ir,uley, R.E.H.S.
This is the information requested describing Tracy Hospital's
Medical Waste Management Plan.
1. Types of medical waste generated at our facility.
*Laboratory Waste
*Blood and Body Fluids
*Sharps
*Surgical Specimens - human parts or tissues removed
surgically
*Isolation Wastes
2. Estimate the monthly amount of medical waste generated at your
facility.
Tracy Hospital produces as estimated 40 cubic yards of
medical waste monthly.
3. Medical waste handling procedures.
a., Tracy Hospital has located a San -I -Pak Unit in
the service area, located near the service
entrance of Bessie Avenue. The waste is
segregated for pick up by using the universal
color code system of bagging waste. Separa"%--e
rounds and separate carts are used to funnel
waste into the proper waste disposal cycle.
All medical waste is bagged in red disposable
bag, each bag is labeled to indicate
biohazardous waste (English and Spanish), and
transported at the appropriate pick up cycle.
Medical waste is processed at the time of
collection. Should an unusual amount of
medical waste require multiple process cycles,
a stored waste would then be processed at the
conclusion of the previous cycle.
b. Lengthy storage of medical waste is not
required in our medical waste processing.
