�I <br /> M E M O R A N D U M <br /> August 9, 1991 <br /> TO: Laboratory Staff <br /> FROM: Holly ��ry <br /> RE: Disposal of Sharp Glass Items <br /> Cardboard containers lined with biohazard bags are available for <br /> disposal of small sharp items (not needles) discarded in the bench <br /> area. <br /> Use these cardboard containers for discarding contaminated slides, <br /> pasteur pipettes, and small sharp glass objects. <br /> Do not remove bag to discard. Discard when full. To discard, <br /> close top of orange bag with blue rubber band and close cardboard <br /> container top. Place box on contaminated cart. Laboratory <br /> assistant will dispose of box in Biohazardous Waste box in rear of <br /> laboratory. <br /> Do not dispose of needles in these boxes. Continue to dispose of <br /> all needles (including venting needles) in red sharps containers on <br /> counters. <br /> The boxes will also be used to support medium orange bags under <br /> hood for disposal of plastic transfer pipettes and pipette tips. <br /> The full bag of transfer pipettes will be removed from the box for <br /> disposal. . <br />
