An analysis of incinerator operating
parameters should be made to assess the ability of the
incinerator to destroy pathogens. New incinerators should be
designed to operate at high temperatures with adequate
retention time. LMH does not use incineration.
7. If infectious wastes are sterilized on-site through
autoclaving or other means, they may enter the general
hospital refuse stream. These treated wastes should not be
packaged in "red bags" since landfill. workers cannot
distinguish them from untreated "red bags".
ISM20M
M
K
