~ r <br />an, Lois - SJMC <br />Shepherd, Gloria - SJMC <br />Newman, Paula - SJMC; Kendle, John - SJMC <br />.subject: Failed biological tests on sterilizer in N corner lot of SJMC <br />Gloria, <br />Per your request, here are the various scenarios of the past 3 biological tests performed on <br />the steam sterilizer used for biohazard waste in the North Corner Lot of SJMC. <br />Date of test: 7-1-2011 performed by: Larry <br />Lot # 2140 expiration date: 2/2012 <br />Positive control tube: positive (this is the expected result) Test tube 1: negative in 24 hours <br />Test tube 2: postive in 24 hours (this is a failure) <br />Date of test: 7/5/2011 performed by: Melvin Tye <br />Lot # 2140 expiration date: 2/2012 <br />Positive control tube: positive <br />Test tube #1: negative in 3 days (prelim report only, we keep tubes for 7 days total) Test Tube <br />2: negative in 3 days ... still pending So far, this biological test is performing as <br />expected... final report will be sent out on 7/12/2011 <br />Date of test: 7/7/2011 performed by: Larry <br />Lot# 2140 expiration date: 2/2012 <br />Positive control tube: negative at 15 hrs Test tube #1: positive at 15 hrs (failed test) Test <br />- abe #2: positive at 15 hrs (failed test) <br />Gram stains performed on all positive tubes. They match the same organism as the control <br />tube. <br />The problems seem variable with the biological tests, so it is hard to determine whether it is <br />technique or there is something wrong with the sterilizer.
