AMMONIA WAS <br />LEAKING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AT 1 DROP EVERY 5 SECONDS ON TO AN ELEVATED CONCRETE PAD. VALVE HAS BEEN <br />REPLACED AND RELEASE HAS BEEN CLEANED UP. Called hospital and received <br /> <br />PRESTO <br />phone number for Nicholas Cabrena regarding a liquid ammonia release of an <br />unknown amount at E&J Gallow Winery. Looked up memory bank for ammonia <br />release procedures. <br />Called Nicholas and left a message. Received call back from Nicholas who <br />calculated the total release of approximately less than 1 pound. He was just made <br />aware of the release today. The release occured 8/19/2022 at 3:00pm from a <br />solenoid valve on one of the jacketed pressure tanks during routine work on the <br />tanks. The tanks that were being worked on was 414, 415, 424, 425. The release <br />was approximately 1 raindrop every 5 seconds for 10 minutes. The solenoid valve <br />was replaced in 10 minutes stopping the release. The release leaked onto an <br />elevated concrete pad. The release was cleaned up using their spill kit and the <br />absorbent was placed in a drum in their hazardous waste area for pick up. Pick <br />ups occur once a month. No waterways were impacted. No evacuations or <br />injuries. Fire department was not contacted due to the release being a <br />non-emergency and it was self-contained and repaired within 10 minutes. <br />Called supervisor with information for ammonia release. Wrote information down <br />for CalARP staff. <br />Spill report #22-4820 received for the release. 12:20 pm update to spill report <br />received updating the amount from "unknown" to 1 pound. <br />08/22/2022 Received updated Cal OES spill report.
