Complaint Investigation Summary
Report #: 5105
COMPLAINT ID: C00055496 Site Location: 24243 N BUCK RD
Activity Summary
Activity Date Recorded by
01/10/2023 Generated complaint by entered missing information. Phoned Alex Steele, left a SAETERN
message. Discussed with J. Alaniz. It was decided to head out once we get the ok
from PG&E due to flooding, there is no access to the spill location.
Phoned Dave Larsen, 209-401-9719, could not leave a message.
Phoned Alex Steele, who confirmed the road was clear. A crew was sent out last
night and repaired the transformer pole after Dave Larsen cleaned up the spill. Per
Alex, the transformer located on 24250 Buck Rd fell onto the road and broke the
fence on 24243 Buck Rd. The transformer had blocked off the road and the area
was flooded. Road was closed. One 55 gallon drum of waste was generated from
the clean-up on Jan 09, 2023 and taken to 4040 West Lane, Stockton.
Updated J. Alaniz.
Arrived at site, I'd met with the property owners on both side of the property. No
sheen observed around the impacted spill area. The property owner, Connor
McFadden, on 24243 Buck Rd had the transformer fall onto his property and
broke a fence. He was not concerned about the broken fence. However, the
property owner, Sandy Schrffenberg, on 24250 Buck Rd was concerned that the
newly installed transformer pole is now impacting her drainage system (ditch). I'd
called the Road Maintenance dispatch, 209-468-3074 to discuss the impacted
ditch.
Updated J. Alaniz, Lead REHS Sr.
Arrived at the office. Received return phone call from Dave Larsen of PG&E
916-897-6779. Per Dave, he cleaned what he could in the rain with a boom and
absorbent pads. Placed the boom and pads into a drum. The transformer is a blue
sticker, and a sample was not taken. Per Dave, the spill was a quarter of a gallon
because it was dripping from a port that was opened. He had sent some photos
however I do not have those. There were some cut transformer poles that was
observed on the side the road on 24243 Buck Rd. Dave believes the poles may
not be theirs, but he will discuss it with his boss and send out a "gas crew" to
check it out.
Attached are photos taken from today.
Called Alex, who stated they will be taking a sample next week. Per Alex, he will
be available by phone but he has a lot on his hands due to the storm so he will
reach out as soon as possible.
Received e-mail from Nicole Mintiens, of Public Work Road Maintenance that
confirmed that the mount that PG&E build around the transformer pole is stopping
the flow of water. Currently, they are coordinating with PG&E for clean-up.
Updated J. Alaniz, Lead RENS Sr, M. Henry, Program Coordinator, and E. Manzo,
Program Coordinator.
Emailed Dave and Alex of PG&E to confirm if the poles on the side of the road
belong to them. Received three photos from Alex Steele
Generated Photolog.
01/17/2023 Generated Prop 65, Parcel Viewer and Emergency Response Record. SAETERN
5105.rpt Page 2 of 3
