Quality Assurance/Quality Control
To prevent any cross contamination the probe rods are cleaned prior to advancement in each boring.
The sampler is cleaned using steam or by using a three step process commonly referred to as a
"three bucket wash". This consists of first a trisodium phosphate wash followed by two
consecutive tap water rinses. This process is completed between each sample run. If required, one
(1) "equipment" blank per 20 soil samples collected will be prepared for laboratory analysis as a
check of cleaning methods used. The procedure is as follows:
1. The sampler will be washed or steam cleaned consist with field protocol for the day.
2. The sampler will be assembled and filled with clean silica sand.
3. The sampler will be dis-assembled and the blank sample prepared using the same
protocol as the others collected during the day.
4. The blank sample will be analyzed for all constituents required.
The laboratory QA/QC procedures are not discussed in this report. However, a state-certified
laboratory will be used for chemical analysis. State-certified laboratories are required to perform
and maintain records of all QA/QC activities.
Groundwater Sampling Procedures
