Medical wastes from this facility are categorized into the following classifications: <br /> Cultures a. Cultures and stocks of infectious agents and associated biologicals, including: <br /> (1) Cultures from medical and pathological laboratories; <br /> (2) Cultures of infectious agents;and <br /> (3) Culture dishes and devices used to transfer, inoculate and mix cultures, <br /> including those used to obtain patient specimens to send to a diagnostic <br /> laboratory. <br /> Human Blood/Blood b. Human blood and blood products,including: <br /> Products <br /> (1) Liquid wastes; <br /> (2) Human blood; <br /> (3) Products of blood,including plasma and platelets; <br /> (4) Items saturated and/or dripping with human blood; <br /> (5) Items that were saturated and/or dripping with Duman blood that are now <br /> caked with dried human blood, including serum, plasma, and other blood <br /> components and their containers, which were used or intended for use in <br /> either patient care,testing or laboratory analysis. intravenous bags are also <br /> included in this category;and <br /> (6) Used gauze sponges, cotton swabs, table paper, exam gloves (that have <br /> been contaminated with human blood),etc, <br /> Pathological Waste c. Pathological wastes,including: <br /> (1) Human pathological and anatomical wastes and body fluids;and <br /> (2) Specimens of body fluids in their containers, including patient specimens <br /> obtained to send to a diagnostic laboratory. <br /> Contaminated Sharps d.
