List the types of Medical Waste generated at your facility: <br /> • Biohazardous waste <br /> • Sharps(needles,syringes,blades etc.) <br /> • Pharmaceutical waste(expired,spend,partials) <br /> 2. Estimate the monthly amount of medical waste generated at your facility: <br /> • Kaiser Permanente Lathrop Medical Office estimated generation is to be 1 pounds/month <br /> of Medical Waste(Excluding Pharmaceutical Waste). <br /> • Kaiser Permanente Lathrop Medical Offices estimated generation is to be 1 <br /> pounds/month of Pharmaceutical Waste. <br /> • This facility is a Small Quantity Generator(generates less than 200 pounds per month of <br /> medical waste)due to the medical service that are provided. <br /> 3. Describe the medical waste handling procedures utilized by and applicable to your <br /> facility,including but not limited to the following: <br /> (a) Onsite location and method for segregation,containment,packaging,labeling, and <br /> collection ,including pharmaceutical waste: <br /> • All medical waste is separated and disposed at the point of origin. <br /> • Waste will be contained in either red bag(biohazardous) and/or ridged containers <br /> (pharmaceutical/sharps)with lids. <br /> • This facility utilizes reusable/recyclable pharmaceutical sharps containers through <br /> our waste hauler-Stericycle Reusable Sharps Program. <br /> • Waste will be labeled on all sides and top to be visible from any lateral direction. <br /> • All containers shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. <br /> The following materials are classified as medical waste: Container Requirements and Labeling Procedures: <br /> Sharps Waste-a device that has acute rigid comers,edges,or protuberances capable <br /> of cutting or piercing,including,but not limited to,hypodermic needles,hypodermic Shall be contained in a United States Food and Drug Administration(USFDA) <br /> needles with syringes,blades,needles with attached tubing,acupuncture needles,root approved sharps container that meets USFDA labeling requirements and is <br /> canal files,broken glass items used in health care such as Pasteur pipettes and blood handled pursuant to Section 118285."Sharps Waste",or the Biohazard symbol <br /> vials contaminated with biohazardous waste,and any item capable of cutting or and the word"BIOHAZARD" <br /> piercing from trauma scene waste. <br /> Biohazardous Waste-Regulated medical waste,clinical waste,or biomedical waste <br /> that is a waste or reusable material derived from the medical treatment of a human, Shall be placed in a biohazard bag conspicuously labeled with the words <br /> which includes diagnosis and immunization;or from biomedical research,which "Biohazardous Waste"or with the international biohazard symbol and the word <br /> includes the production and testing of biological products. 'BIOHAZARD." <br /> Regulated medical waste or clinical waste or biomedical waste suspected of containing Containers may be of any color and shall be labeled with the words <br /> a highly communicable disease.
