List the types of Medical Waste generated at your facility: • Biohazardous waste • Sharps(needles,syringes,blades etc.) • Pharmaceutical waste(expired,spend,partials) 2. Estimate the monthly amount of medical waste generated at your facility: • Kaiser Permanente Lathrop Medical Office estimated generation is to be 1 pounds/month of Medical Waste(Excluding Pharmaceutical Waste). • Kaiser Permanente Lathrop Medical Offices estimated generation is to be 1 pounds/month of Pharmaceutical Waste. • This facility is a Small Quantity Generator(generates less than 200 pounds per month of medical waste)due to the medical service that are provided. 3. Describe the medical waste handling procedures utilized by and applicable to your facility,including but not limited to the following: (a) Onsite location and method for segregation,containment,packaging,labeling, and collection ,including pharmaceutical waste: • All medical waste is separated and disposed at the point of origin. • Waste will be contained in either red bag(biohazardous) and/or ridged containers (pharmaceutical/sharps)with lids. • This facility utilizes reusable/recyclable pharmaceutical sharps containers through our waste hauler-Stericycle Reusable Sharps Program. • Waste will be labeled on all sides and top to be visible from any lateral direction. • All containers shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. The following materials are classified as medical waste: Container Requirements and Labeling Procedures: Sharps Waste-a device that has acute rigid comers,edges,or protuberances capable of cutting or piercing,including,but not limited to,hypodermic needles,hypodermic Shall be contained in a United States Food and Drug Administration(USFDA) needles with syringes,blades,needles with attached tubing,acupuncture needles,root approved sharps container that meets USFDA labeling requirements and is canal files,broken glass items used in health care such as Pasteur pipettes and blood handled pursuant to Section 118285."Sharps Waste",or the Biohazard symbol vials contaminated with biohazardous waste,and any item capable of cutting or and the word"BIOHAZARD" piercing from trauma scene waste.
