OWTS Design
Referring to Section 4.1.12 for the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems
Standards, the Base Tank Capacity (BTC) for commercial establishments shall be 1,200 gallons plus the
Average Daily Flow (ADF). With and average daily flow of 900 gallons as noted above; the required
septic tank size for the new Gate Building will be 2,100 gallons.
The leach line length was determined using section 9.7.2 of the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater
Treatment Systems Standards, in which the Base Tank Capacity of 1,200 gallons plus the Average Daily
Flow of 900 gallons was multiplied by the soil factor of 0.225 for silt and/or sandy clay loam netting a
total leach line length of 472.5 feet. The filter bed size was also computed as the leach line length
multiplied by 3 for sandy soils equating to a filter bed size of 1,417.5 ft^2.
The proposed subsurface disposal field will consist of five 3ft wide trenches with a length of 94.5ft per
trench. Leach lines will be 4" PVC perforated pipes with a slope of 2" per 100 feet. The leach lines will
also adhere to following table found in the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems
Standards.
9.4.1 Maximum le-igth of individual leach li-)e 100'
9.4.2 Minimum width of trench 2411
9.4.3 Maximum grade of perforated pipe 3" per 10D'
9.4.4 Preferable grade of pe rFo rated pipe 2" per 10D'
9.4.5 Distance betty-een leach line 10' edge to edge
9.4.6 Minimum depth of rack below perforated pipe 12"
9.4.7 Minimum de th of rock overs rov-2d Perforated pip-2 2"
9.4.8 Maximum depth of trench 4211
9.4.9 Minimum distance between leach line and se tic to-ik
9.4.10 Maximum soil cover over leach line 24'.
9.4.11 Minimum soil cover over leach line 6.1
Page 4 of 6
