Complaint Investigation Summary Report #: 5105
COMPLAINT ID: C00055564 Site Location: 395 MCGEE STREET, TRACY CA 95376
Activity Summary
Activity Date
01/25/2023 Generated complaint and completed dailies. Spoke with Jose Minaya
(732-306-5057) and he informed me that he began to notice the smell on 1/24/23
at approximately 8:45pm. According to Jose it was a strong chemical smell which
then began to cause him and his daughter to have difficulty breathing, a scratchy
throat and eventually gave him a panic attack. According to Jose his wife and
mother in law also smelled the chemical smell but they did not show any
symptoms. Jose stated that he went outside to confirm that the smell was coming
from the outside and not from his home. Jose stated that ever since his family
moved to Tracy his daughter has been having respiratory problems. Jose stated
that he is used to abnormal smells in the area but that this chemical smell was
completely different from what he has ever smelled. Per Jose, he could not see
any smoke or where the smell could be coming from. He stated that he still had a
scratchy throat this morning 1/25/23. Jose stated the he did not have Covid-19 or
RSV and that he knew those were not the causes of his symptoms.
Received a call from Muni to discuss what information I had gathered from the
complainant. Muni requested the complainant's phone number which I provided to
him.
Recorded by
GARCIA-MEJIA
Called the air board to refer the complaint over to them. Spoke with Veronica who
stated that they had already received the complaint and had assigned it to an
inspector, Cristobal Frias.
Forwarded the spill report in an email to Dr. Park <mpark@sjcphs.org> informing
her of the incident. I also sent an email to Hilary Crowley <hcrowley@sjgov.org>
our PIO.
01/30/2023 Printed necessary forms and abated the complaint since it has been referred to
the air board.
02/02/2023 Received complaint to make necessary updates. I updated my narratives. Printed
out the email sent out to Dr. Park and to our PIO, Hilary Crowley and added them
to the complaint for abatement.
GARCIA-MEJIA
GARCIA-MEJIA
5105.rpt
