Here's How it Works:
When using the Medical Waste Machine, sharps are
collected as they normally would be using our standard
sharps containers. Once the sharps container is full or it's
time to run a cycle, the sharps container is brought over the
the machine and the silver dome top is removed. One of our
black specialized indicator discs is then placed in the bottom of the machine's teflon lined container and the
full sharps container is placed on top of that. The silver dome is now put back on top and secured using the
handle's locking mechanisrn.
Tfie sterilization cycle is started with a one button process and runs for a few hours before automatically
shutting off. During the cycle, all medical waste is sterilized and encapsulated. The indicator disc serves as a
bio -physical indicator that sterilization has occurred, as it can only rnelt at temperatures well in excess of
those needed for sterilization. The process reduces the waste by up to 75% and leaves behind a small plastic
block that can be disposed of with standard garbage. The teflon lined container is also sterilized in the
process to be used for future waste disposal.
